Camosun College Immunization Courses 2009-2010:
Camosun College is now offering a 2-part delivery format to better accommodate LPN schedules:
Part 1. LPNU 592V is a Self-Study course requiring approximately 6 weeks (40-60 hours) to complete.
Part 2: LPNU 593V is a one-day Lab following the intensive Self-Study. CLPNBC requires that LPN’s have a full current license in order to attend LPNU 593V. Your instructor will review theory and you will apply practical skills. The CLPNBC certification exam will be written at the end of the lab session.
Certification is awarded after passing the exam with a grade of 80% or higher.
Register at your convenience to attend the Lab/Exam portion of the course. Lab/Exams will be schedules three times a year, and we will add sessions to meet the demand. Operating Room Theory/Experience - Distance
courses, MacEwan College, Alberta. These courses provide Licensed
Practical Nurses with the hands-on skills required to work alongside
surgeons, registered nurses, and other health professionals in a
challenging, fast-paced, team–orientated environment.
Perioperative Nursing Advanced Certificate - online or home study courses, Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Saskatchewan.
Perioperative Nursing/LPN is a/an advanced certificate program. It
provides licensed practical nurses with the specialized knowledge and
skill development needed to work in an operating room, ambulatory
surgery centre, free standing clinic or other perioperative settings.
IV Therapy
Initiation of IV Therapy for LPNs - Grant MacEwan College, distance program.
Basic Venipuncture -
Online course with a one day lab workshop at BCIT. It provides the
basic theory and procedure for performing simple venipuncture by syringe
and needle, evacuated system and butterfly needle for the purpose of
either blood collection or injection of a substance into the
bloodstream. This online course includes graphics and video clips
demonstrating equipment and procedures.
Distance IV Therapy for LPNs - Vancouver Community College
IV Therapy Theory - Vancouver Community College. For practising RNs & LPNs: update your knowledge on how to locate sites, select equipment, insert IV, adjust flow rates, identify complications and select nursing interventions for the adult patient in keeping with standards for IV nursing.
Leadership
Take the Lead Vancouver Community College. This three day course has been designed to assist the LPN in identifying their leadership capabilities both at the bedside and at the leadership table.
LPN to RN Programs
Post LPN Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Online courses, Athabasca University, Alberta. The post-LPN BN program is designed to provide licensed practical nurses with the opportunity to further their nursing education in a baccalaureate program that offers flexible modes of course delivery and opportunities to develop a clinical focus. Graduates of the post-LPN BN program are eligible to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examinations.
LPN Access to BSN - UBC Okanagan School of Nursing. UBC Okanagan offers access to the second year of our BSN program for LPN graduates who have some work experience. This program will help you upgrade your credential and take the next step in your nursing career.

Breastfeeding for Healthcare Professionals
- Douglas College. Designed for health care providers working with
breastfeeding families, this comprehensive course covers all aspects of
breastfeeding management and support. Through exploration of a wide
range of topics, such as anatomy, physiology, breastfeeding management,
and counselling skills, you will develop a well-rounded and
evidence-based understanding of current optimal infant feeding
practices. Over the thirteen weeks of the course, you will acquire or
polish the foundational skills you need to confidently support and
empower families to reach their breastfeeding goals.
Wound Management

management in the wound environment, management of chronic and problem
acute wounds, and clinical application of wound management.

Vancouver Community College - If you are preparing to write the Canadian Practical Nurse registration exam, this course has been developed to help you succeed. The instructor led evening sessions will cover the relevant information for the exam. Offered 3 times a year. (20 hours)
